House Tour #2 - Part 3

Part 3 of the house tour focuses on the different screened porch areas of the house. There is a large screened lanai off of the living room that overlooks the pool. Two of the home's bedrooms also open up to this lanai. I decorated it as if it were a room, rather than a porch. It is tiled in the same tile as the rest of the home so that there is a seamless transition into the space. I did have to use some outdoor furniture because the humidity rots things so quickly.
I loooove orchids. When they quit blooming, I put them out in a tree in my yard and leave them there until they bloom again.

The property is located on the Indian River. We often see manatees and porpoises playing in the water.

Remember in an earlier post, I mentioned that triangles and angles are a theme throughout the house? The pool is a triangle, too.
The armoire holds a tv and beach towels. My mom found the bust out in Texas at a yard sale.

I found the old marine spotlight at a junk shop in South Florida.
There is a pool table/air hockey table on the porch that I sometimes use as an art table. The painting is of the pink sand beach at Harbour Island, Eleuthera. Sometimes I am in the mood to paint - sometimes not. Lately - not.

There are two elevated smaller porches that connect to the main porch. I painted all of the porch ceilings a light blue to deter dirt dabbers and wasps. This is an old island tradition and it works.
I have been on the hunt for a narrow daybed to put in this spot. Still looking...
There is another screened area on the other side of the living room that also connects to the kitchen and a third bedroom. The stone looking piece on the right is actually a trashcan. I ordered it from Horchow. I hate looking at garbage receptacles. I believe they should be hidden or disguised at all times.
This is where we grill since it is just off of the kitchen. Yes, I am crazy, I accessorized the grill with a vintage ceramic elephant. I need help.

We found the vintage French button chairs at a garage sale. My mom and I glued the shells on to the mirror. It took forever.

This is also where Whitetail the parakeet lives. We used to have a bird named Pablo, but Pablo was eaten by our Wire Fox Terrier, Skipper. Poor Pablo...
